Prayers by Rae Armantrout
thelazylazarus:
1 We pray and the resurrection happens. Here are the young again, sniping and giggling, tingly as ringing phones. 2 All we ask is that our thinking sustain momentum, identify targets. The pressure in my lower back rising to be recognized as pain. The blue triangles on the rug repeating. Coming up, a discussion on the uses of torture. The fear that all this will end. The fear...

you trip over your dress
because thats you being you

You break my heart

You break my heart again
& I breathe some more
I inhale the pain
I swallow my pride

As I stared out this window I realized I wasn’t home Coming to conclusions I should have already known How could I have lived this long without a soul? Languished by this anguish The damage Has already been done You sip malice from your chalice Revel in the misunderstanding Of everything…

Like I said yesterday Taksim is my favorite place in Istanbul and it’s a great multicultural part of the city. There was a book festival that we went to, it was really great even if most of the books were in turkish, just seeing that much books made me feel good :)
The cat cracked me up, just sitting there relaxing on the magazines.
I know simply that the sky will last longer than I.

I had an amazing time yesterday with my turkish friends. We went to my favorite place in Istanbul; Taksim!
This is Istiklal street in Taksim. We were in a restaurant in the fourth floor: amazing view! The food soooo good! I couldn’t get enough really :D
Do not ask me about the names of the dishes lol because I really don’t remember any!

“What I do for hours, every day of my life, is sit in a room by myself. When I stop for the day I always try to have some notion of where I want to pick up. If I’ve done that, then it’s a little easier to start because I know the first sentence or phrase. At least I know where in my head to go and look for it. Early on, it’s very slow and there are a lot of false starts. I’ll...

I love you
Why is it hard to confess
after all
it’s easy to express
only Three words
no more no less
I love you
Let it consume you
Let it guide you
Let it draw the future
The future of two
The future of me and you

“I usually write from ten o’clock in the morning until about six o’clock. I try not to attend to e-mails or telephone calls until about four o’clock.
I have two desks. One has a writing slope and the other has a computer on it. The computer dates from 1996. It’s not connected to the Internet. I prefer to work by pen on my writing slope for the initial drafts. I want it to...

“It’s like standing on the edge of a cliff. This is especially true of the first draft. Every day you’re making up the earth you’re going to stand on. Normally I know what I want to achieve in a chapter, and I have an idea about where events should take place and I’ll have some rough idea of the characters involved. But I might not have fully invented the place. And I certainly...

Going, going, gone!
Hitting the road for Istanbul tomorrow morning. I admit, it’s hard to leave everything behind and move on to somewhere else. It’s hard to leave your loved ones, pack up your life and start again.
But life goes on and this will go away, I hope.
See you when I’m there, dear ones!
Much love <3

“I’ve always written by hand. Mostly with a fountain pen, but sometimes with a pencil—especially for corrections. If I could write directly on a typewriter or a computer, I would do it. But keyboards have always intimidated me. I’ve never been able to think clearly with my fingers in that position. A pen is a much more primitive instrument. You feel that the words are coming out...

my internal monologue: I Leave You With This →
maddiefaceartpants:
I am not Rapunzel, I don’t have long hair to pull you up nor would I want to, because why should I let you hurt me just to get in my pants?
I am not Belle, I don’t have the patience to tame the Beast, and besides, he’s hairy, and mean, and why should I spend that much time on someone who…
Anonymous asked: I know what that anon said wasn't nice but you have to understand where he came from. I mean it's not easy to go through what happened and feel safe again. The hate for the arabs was built up through all these years and it's hard to shake it off. In a way there is truth in what he said.
Anonymous asked: You're a terrorist, all arabs are, I hate you for what you did to us

Some of these are way too heady for high school students, but it’s a good list for everyone.

1. Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien: WH Auden thought this tale of fantastic creatures looking for lost jewellery was a “masterpiece”. 2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: A child’s-eye view of racial prejudice and weird neighbours in Thirties Alabama. 3. The Home and...

Anonymous asked: I just read your "About" and saw that you're Moroccan. I'm very impressed by your English and writing. I know that Moroccans normally speak French and Arabic, and are very poor in English. Am I correct? Did you go to a language center?

Am back!
My trip went great, I had so much fun with my cousins and uncles and we went on a road trip that made things even better. Anyway, I’m not going to bore you with the details, I just have a few things to say:
First of all, I missed you guys so much. I missed your great poems and prose, and your amazing posts. I promise to make time and read most of them, if not all.
Second, I know you missed...

“When I started writing full-time I was forty years old, my schedule was basically from nine o’clock in the morning until two in the afternoon when my sons came back from school. Since I was so used to hard work, I felt guilty that I was only working in the morning; so I tried to work in the afternoons, but I discovered that what I did in the afternoon had to be...

“I compose 20 or 30 pages, then I need to be distracted; a little love when I can or a bit of orgy; the morning after I have forgotten all, on reading the last three or four pages of the previous day, the chapter of the day comes to me.”

He started his day with a morning swim in the Caribbean Sea followed by a breakfast with Ann (his wife). The breakfast always consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon and black coffee as he insisted that tea tasted like mud and was the reason behind the decline of the British Empire.
At 9am, he would give his wife a kiss, leave the breakfast table and go inside into the main living...
